Kicking it Off with...My Favorite Blogs to Follow!

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.
— Ralph Waldo Emerson

Hi all and welcome to housebyclouse! Today we are kicking off the new blog with our first post, yay! I've had the desire for a while to start a blog, and after being alone in the desert for three months, I decided now was a great time to start, haha!

What makes a blog great? What gets you to check that blog everyday? The pull that draws you in?

Well, we are talking blogs today. Our favorite blogs! Here are our Top 10:

The New Darlings I'm convinced Christina and Robert, just may be the cutest blogging couple out there! Between her bangs and his beard, they are one stunning duo. Based in Phoenix, AZ the New Darlings blog is consistently entertaining. I first found out about these two when I saw their previous home featured on A Beautiful Mess. Their home was a mix of indigo-dyed textiles, warm leather, and luscious plants. I had to see more of them! Along with their "Our Home" section another one of my favorites is their fashion tab. There they feature "Monthly Must Haves" and "Outfits." They also have a great travel portion complete with stories from Tennessee to France. Be sure to check out this darling pair! Image: @thenewdarlings

A Beautiful Mess

Color, creativity, and FUN are three words I would use to describe this next blog. Run by two adorable sisters, Elsie and Emma, A Beautiful Mess packs a punch of girly flair. I have to give a big thank you to ABM-a few months ago they featured my old apartment in their "At Home With..." series. I was tickled pink! Aside form their awesome home tours, what really draws me to this blog, is their amazing crafts. This team comes up with some of the most fun ideas, with everything from homemade tassle earrings to DIY clay cactus candleholders. They also feature a wonderful section on blogging along with various courses and a ton of questions and answers. This site is a great resource for fellow bloggers and all girls who just wanna have fun!

Man Repeller With a name like Man Repeller it must be good! This blog always has me lol'ing. From their witty written articles to their killer fashion content, not a story on this blog should be missed. Some of my favorite articles have included, "The World Has Changed, Paris Hilton Has Not", "Moving Advice From Someone Who Moves Too Much" (very much needed for me!), and "Studies Explain the Arm Candy Phenomenon." These girls can write!! They've got podcasts, they've got beauty, and they've got dick-shun-ary. Be sure to check Man Repeller out, and you'll be rocking an Isabel Marant dress with neon green loafers and a pink feather boa in no time. Image: @leandramedine

A Cup of Jo If this blog had sound it would sound like a Courtney Barnett song. Easy to listen to with a charming melody that carries on. A Cup of Jo features the usual blog sections: Style, Food, Design, and Travel, but the sections that truly stand out to me are Relationships (career, friendships, romantic) and Motherhood. Although, I am not yet a mother these posts really speak to me. There is such warmth and honesty in them. From "5 Ways to Teach Kids About Consent" to "'My Child is Transgender'", the stories are truly inspiring and good lessons for us all. On a lighter note, I love love love their "Have A Great Weekend" weekly post. It makes me excited every Fri-yay! Image: @mariandrew via A Cup of Jo

The Glitter Guide The Glitter Guide's motto is to "shine brightly in everything you do." And girl, do they help you to shine! Their beautifully designed website features great beauty tips including "How I Started My Anti-aging Skincare Routine" and " How To Mask A Hangover For Sunday Morning Brunch" (yes, please!). They also have great fashion features like "The Best Straw Totes To Shop Right Now" and "What To Pack For A Week In Europe." Their tips are glam but down to earth at the same time, and you gotta love that. For the month of May, they are kicking off their Health and Wellness Month. Be sure to check that out! The Every Girl The Every Girl is every girl. They have a rockin' fashion and beauty section, however what really stands out to me is their "Career & Finance" portion. With tips on everything from "7 Totally Valid Reasons to Quit Your Job" to "9 Ways to Start Saving for Retirement in Your 20's", this blog packs a punch of reality. Their skills are both practical and interesting. I'm also a huge fan of, you guessed it, their "Living" category. They have some of the best home tours out there! Be sure to check out "Tour a Sophisticated and Serene Chicago High Rise" and fashion blogger Kat Tanita's gorgeous Manhattan apartment. Heart eyes! Image: @theeverygirl

laurenconrad.com I always had a soft spot in my heart for Southern California. Maybe it was The O.C. and Seth Cohen that first drew me in? Or perhaps it was The Hills, where fresh-faced LC stunned us all with her golden locks and twinkly eyes. From her perfect cat eyed mascara to her sweet style, you have got to love this girl! Lauren is all grown up now and it shows in her blog. Married and pregnant, Lauren's blog now reflects her adult lifestyle. Her blog is divided into 8 categories including "Dine" and "Primp." All are super girly, very relatable, and helpful. I always look forward to her "Tuesday Tens" and "Friday Favorites."  Image: @laurenconrad

Camille Styles Camille is your classic Austin woman. She's a successful go-getter with a passion for healthy living. You may know her from her book "Camille Styles Entertaining" or from her new role as the Target Entertainment Director. Her blog was her starting point and is still her most popular resource. My favorite part of her blog, aside from delicious and healthy recipes (including an upcoming CS Cleanse!), is her Living section and her Goals section. The Living piece is divided into seven categories with Fox & Hound (people and their pets) and It Couple being my favorites. Their "Goals" section is not to be missed! Life lessons, TV and book recs, and dream job advice is all there. Image: @camillestyles

Gal Meets Glam Julia Engel of Girl Meets Glam, is such a lady. With her pretty dresses and perfectly applied makeup, she had me daydreaming of losing the boots and bandanas I wear here in Marfa, and trading them in for some feminine skirts and pearls. Her "Daily Looks" feature offers great ideas for style. I'm super inspired by her story of how she started blogging. She started on a whim in college and eventually turned it in to her full-time gig! Between Style, Beauty, Travel, and Home, Julia covers the basics. I love her blog for a quick dose of girly fun! Image: @galmeetsglam

Bonus! Zayda Blog I seriously want to be friends with this girl! Girl crush! Zayda, based in Houston, is such a down to earth girl with great style and an equally great sense of humor. She features everything from career, health, lifestyle, and personal advice along with style and travel. I love that she incorporates videos into her posts sometimes. Some of my favorite posts of hers include: "Zay's Faves", "The Do's and Don'ts of Dressing a Petite (and Curvy) Body", and "Bad and Boujee on a Budget." Zayda gives solid advice with a wicked sense of humor. Thanks for inspiring me to start blogging! Image: @zaydacortez
